Mathilde Milwidsky (violin) & Richard Uttley (piano)

- Main Information
The very talented young violinist, Mathilde Milwidsky, takes to the stage this evening with her musical partner, Richard Uttley, for an absorbing programme of music for violin and piano duo.
Mathilde is the winner of numerous awards, a Classic FM Rising Star in 2023 and dedicatee of a new work for violin by the British composer, Joseph Phibbs, in 2020.
After making a ‘brilliant’ (The Times) London debut in 2010, Richard has gone on to make several acclaimed recordings and has established himself as a champion of contemporary music, giving world premieres of new works by Julian Anderson and Mark Simpson and working closely with Thomas Adès.
Mathilde and Richard’s programme this evening is a fascinating survey of music from the baroque era to the 20thcentury. There’s a bluesy, jazzy feel to the slow movement of Ravel’s sonata while the Passacaglia by the 17th century composer, Biber, is a spectacular showpiece for the violin. Music by Mozart, Brahms and three 20th century composers complete a programme that really must be heard!
