A real treat in store for lovers of baroque music! A whole evening devoted to Bach and Handel played by an ensemble who are among the leading specialists in 17th and 18th century music.

The London Handel Players celebrate their 25th anniversary this year. They appear regularly at major venues and festivals in the UK, continental Europe and North America, attracting great reviews wherever they play. Four of the players join us in Hexham this evening, playing flute, violin, cello and harpsichord.

The ensemble have called this evening’s programme, German Geniuses – chamber music masterpieces by Bach and Handel. The title leaves no room for doubt. This is music by two very great composers.  While the focus is on their chamber music, there are also arrangements for small ensemble of two arias from Handel’s opera Julius Caesar in Egypt (Giulio Cesare in Egitto). Don’t miss this!
