One of the UK’s most accomplished and respected novelists, Val McDermid has sold over 19 million books to date across the globe, and her work has been translated into more than 40 languages. She joins us in Hexham to talk about her two new books for 2026: Silent Bones, a new thriller featuring Karen Pirie – now a hit ITV series – and Winter, a standalone memoir where she journeys from Edinburgh streets to Scottish coasts, celebrating festivals, childhood memories and the season as one of rest, retreat and creativity.
